OCLA Calls on MPs to Reject the Use of the Emergencies Act to Crush Peaceful Protest at Parliament Hill

The Ontario Civil Liberties Association (OCLA) sent the following email today to Canadian Members of Parliaments and Senators.

A PDF of the email can be read at the link here.

Dear Member of Parliament,

There is no national emergency caused by the Freedom Convoy protesters in Ottawa.

There is only a peaceful protest of Canadians who are opposed to government policy (mandatory medical procedures) that objectively violates the human rights of life, liberty, and security of the person, and of conscience and religion.

This peaceful protest is taking place on the street immediately facing the Parliament Buildings, the most appropriate site for a protest that one can imagine in Canada.

OCLA volunteers have been observing the protest in person since the convoy arrived in Ottawa in late January. The protest has been eminently peaceful and should be a model of democratic engagement for future generations of Canadians to look up to.

There is no national emergency happening in Ottawa, and no rational basis to use the Emergencies Act (formerly the War Measures Act). Doing so will be an explicit act of government authoritarianism that will permanently damage democracy in Canada.

The Ontario Civil Liberties Association implores you not to do this. It is wrong. It is unconstitutional. It is undemocratic. We ask that you do everything in your power as an elected representative to protect our democracy and reject this misuse of the Emergencies Act to crush peaceful protest.

OCLA’s public statement on this matter can be read at the link here: https://ocla.ca/ocla-statement-on-the-governments-use-of-the-emergencies-act/

Student Cameron Van Donkersgoed’s Speech at the Freedom Convoy Protest in Ottawa

Fourth-year engineering student Cameron Van Donkersgoed delivered a speech to the crowd at the Freedom Convoy protest at Parliament Hill in Ottawa, on Feb. 12, 2022.

Mr. Van Donkersgoed’s speech entitled “A Sound of Horns” is an evocative outcry against governments’ and universities’ attacks on fundamental freedoms including freedom of expression and of life, liberty, and security of the person:

“It used to be the case that universities rewarded students for independent thought. But now at the University of Guelph, and every other post-secondary institution in our country, students who are smart enough to do their own research and come to their own informed conclusions are literally banned from campus and de-registered from their programs.” — C. Van Donkersgoed

A video of Cameron’s speech can be viewed at the link here, and the text of his speech can be read here.

OCLA Statement on the Government’s Use of the Emergencies Act

The Ontario Civil Liberties Association (OCLA) condemns the federal government’s use of the Emergencies Act (formerly the War Measures Act) to dispel peaceful protests in Canada.

Peaceful protest and civil disobedience are essential in a democratic society – without these mechanisms of peaceful expression, demonstration, and opposition there can be no democracy.

There is no national emergency caused by the Freedom Convoy protesters. Therefore, the government’s use of the Emergencies Act can only be understood as an opportunistic political act intended to eliminate protest that opposes the policies of the sitting government, to manipulate public opinion by further demonizing “the unvaccinated”, and to advance the ongoing degradation of civil liberties in Canada by setting an extreme precedent of governmental intervention to freeze or appropriate the assets of individual citizens who peacefully oppose the policies of the government of the day.

Maj. Stephen Chledowski Speaks Out Against COVID Tyranny

Major Stephen Chledowski of the Canadian Armed Forces has created a powerful video in which he uses his freedom of speech to criticize Canadian governments’ COVID-era measures, including vaccine mandates.

A copy of the video has been posted on OCLA’s Rumble account and is embedded below.

A transcript of the video produced by Otter.ai and reviewed by an OCLA volunteer is available at the link here.

OCLA Report: Nature of the Toxicity of the COVID-19 Vaccines in the USA (Version 1)

Vaccine coercion is now wide-spread in Canada, with punishments for non-compliance including loss of livelihood, educational and social opportunities, ability to travel or leave the country, and much more.

Imposing or coercing medical procedures, including vaccination, violates civil liberties. The egregiousness of the violation depends on the recklessness of governments, and this in turn relates to the toxicity of the imposed pharmaceutical product or procedure.

On Jan. 4, 2022, OCLA posted a statement about the study of toxicity of the COVID-19 vaccines, in which we warned of important data artifacts in the USA’s VAERS database that render many of the currently-available toxicity analyses unreliable (the so-called “toxic batches” analyses). OCLA’s statement noted that a detailed study by OCLA researchers would be forthcoming.

This post is to announce the publication of Version 1 of OCLA’s analysis of COVID-19 vaccine toxicity using the VAERS database. Version 1 succinctly presents the key results of the study. An updated version with more details will follow.

The report studies data from the USA’s VAERS database, because no similar publicly-available and extensive dataset on vaccine harm exists for Canada. However, many of the results are relevant for the Canadian population.

Nature of the toxicity of the COVID-19 vaccines in the USA

by Joseph Hickey and Denis G. Rancourt

In this study of the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System data (VAERS data, USA) for COVID-19 vaccines we examine the broad features of the data, resolved by:

  • major adverse effect (AE) category (death, life-threatening reaction, hospitalization, disability, and all categories),
  • vaccine manufacturer (Janssen, Moderna, Pfizer),
  • type of injection (shot number in primary series, booster), • date of injection,
  • date of onset or finality of AE, and
  • age of the person suffering the AE;

compared to the dates of administration of all the injections, for the different manufacturers and types of injections (see Figure S1), and compared to population characteristics (age structure, poverty, life expectancy, obesity).

We elucidate fundamental aspects of the body’s response to these kinds of pulses of toxic charges, related to age-dependent immune efficiency and age-dependent spread of vulnerability, and we identify exponential time decay components in the induced mortalities, with half-life values in the range 13-30 days, possibly arising from the spike protein.

OCLA Statement on Analysis of Batch-Specific Toxicity of COVID-19 Vaccine Products using VAERS Data

The question of potential batch-specific toxicity of COVID-19 vaccine products is an important one that merits careful investigation. Indeed, history shows that dangerous “hot lots” have existed for past vaccine products. However, researchers investigating this topic should be wary of important artifacts that are present in the publicly-available VAERS data, which can skew analyses and lead to incorrect conclusions.

Several exploratory reports of potential batch-specific toxicity of COVID-19 vaccine products have been posted on the Internet (see here, here, and here) using data from the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS) database maintained by the US Department of Health & Human Services.

OCLA is researching the VAERS database, and wants to alert the research community to the following issues in the data:

  • Approximately 1/3 of adverse event (AE) entries in the VAERS database have no associated batch label. This is a large number of missing batch label assignments.
  • For the AEs that do have batch labels, the labels are alpha-numeric strings, which is a data format that is prone to artifacts, such as typos and the presence of multiple label-strings that should be considered to be the same label. The latter can occur due to substitution of lower-case for upper-case letters, inclusion or non-inclusion of a white-space character, replacement of a number by a letter (e.g., “B” versus “8”), etc.
  • Examples of spurious batch labels that can be seen by scrolling down the list of batch labels at the link here are the labels “UNKNOWN”, “N/A”, “Pfizer”, “Na”, “?”, “Pfizer-BioNTech”, “unk”, “don’t know”, etc.
  • An example of a set of multiple strings that should most likely be considered to be a single unique label are the labels “Ew0158” (1662 AEs), “EwO158” (47 AEs), “#EW0168” (1 AE), and “(EW0158)” (1 AE). These four strings are included as separate entries in the list at the link here. There are many such examples of spurious multiplicity of batch labels in the VAERS data.
  • If the above-noted artifacts are not corrected for, then a histogram of AE-frequencies per batch label will include many label-strings that should not be included as unique labels, and these will have low AE-frequencies. Such a histogram cannot be used to infer the probability of low-AE (low “toxicity”) vaccine product batches, and consequently cannot be used to infer the probability of high-AE batches.
  • An additional observation that has been presented (at the video here) is an apparent “linear decline in toxicity” vs. batch label for the Pfizer vaccine products, which appears when the batch labels are sorted alpha-numerically and plotted on the x-axis and the number of AEs associated with each label is plotted on the y-axis. This observation can be explained by the fact that Pfizer’s format for labeling their batches correlates with how the batches were administered in time – “E” batches were administered before “F” batches, etc. The VAERS data shows many more AEs and deaths in the early stages of the vaccine rollout than later in the rollout, probably because the vaccine products were initially given to older and frailer people (with the exception of some healthcare workers) and then to progressively younger people. Unlike Pfizer, Moderna’s batch-labeling format does not correlate with how the batches were administered in time, and this explains why no apparent “linear decline in toxicity” is seen for Moderna in the same graph.

The above-noted artifacts have the effect of rendering the currently-available batch-toxicity analyses unreliable, in that their graphical and distributional analyses do not support their stated conclusions. More careful analysis, accounting for the important data-artifact issues, is required.

OCLA researchers have performed detailed data analyses on the VAERS data, which corroborate the need for this cautionary note. OCLA researchers plan to publish their analysis soon, at ocla.ca.

Researcher Jessica Rose made essentially the same cautionary note (with supporting analyses) on December 1, 2021 (here), however her observations have since been largely overlooked by critical experts (e.g., here).

OCLA’s 2021 Year in Review

Dear OCLA Supporter,

2021 was another year of unprecedented evisceration of the civil liberties of Ontarians and Canadians. Wartime measures are being implemented without any valid scientific justification and without any end in sight. The Ontario Civil Liberties Association (OCLA) will continue to oppose the ongoing removal of our civil liberties in the coming year.

The following email is to give you an update of OCLA’s work in 2021. As a reminder, OCLA has been providing fundamental analysis and criticism of Canadian governments’ egregious COVID-era measures since the beginning, as summarized in last year’s “2020 Year in Review” email.

OCLA publishes Canadian academics’ popular Open Letters

As segregation and stigmatization of “the unvaccinated” ramped up in the summer of 2021, a group of Canadian academics wrote a powerful open letter to support those who decided not to accept a COVID-19 vaccine, and asked OCLA to publish it.

The group’s “Open Letter to the Unvaccinated” was widely shared on the Internet, became the subject of several media articles, and was translated into many languages. The letter and the translations that were provided to OCLA can be found at the link here.

The group followed up with their “Open Letter to the Vaccinated” and “Open Letter to Public Health Officers” in the weeks thereafter (also published by OCLA), and many of the authors are now members of the new group Canadian Academics for Covid Ethics, which produces valuable analyses and educational materials on COVID-related subjects.

OCLA acts as original publisher of critical scientists’ research articles

Publishing scientific articles that not aligned with the establishment narrative on COVID-19 has become difficult, to say the least. Prominent examples of high-quality scientific research that has been shut out or removed from peer-reviewed publication include the work of Columbia University professor Spiro Pantazatos and Jessica Rose and Peter A. McCullough.

Accordingly, many critical scientists are choosing to publish in other venues. In 2021, OCLA was asked to publish the following research articles by Canadian and French scientists:

Statement on Canadian government’s decision to force injections on employees and travellers

OCLA immediately condemned the Canadian government’s pre-election decision to force Canadian employees and travellers to be injected with vaccine products, after the decision was announced in mid-August.

OCLA’s statement can be read at the link here, and includes the quote:

“This is an egregious violation of fundamental rights, an assault against personal integrity and dignity, and an attack against control over one’s own body. There is no palpable reason for the injection campaign, beyond the media frenzy and constructed institutional bias surrounding COVID-19.”

As the mandate was implemented this past autumn, OCLA helped to publicize several cases in Ottawa in which non-vaccinated employees were fired or put on forced unpaid leave despite working from home and requesting medical or religious accommodations:

Call for disturbing sudden deaths in Ontario to be investigated

A surprising number of young and seemingly healthy people died suddenly in Ontario over the summer of 2021, often while engaging in physical exercise. OCLA posted excerpts from media articles about these deaths and called for them to be transparently investigated, in part due to Public Health Ontario’s data showing concerning rates of heart problems in recipients of the novel vaccine products that were widely applied and mandated in Ontario.

Letter to Health Canada calling for ban on glyphosate

In July, OCLA researcher Dr. Denis Rancourt wrote a detailed letter to the Health Canada Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) asking for the herbicide glyphosate to be banned in Canada.

The letter, entitled “Glyphosate should be banned, not increased” was submitted in response to the PMRA’s invitation for comments from the public on its proposal to increase the maximum residue limit of glyphosate on many types of crops.

There is a strong correlation between glyphosate use and the incidence and death rates for many chronic diseases.  This is an area of extensive scientific research, which Dr. Rancourt reviews in his letter.

Hundreds of German doctors write to politicians about vaccine risks and harms

Over 230 German medical doctors have called on Members of the European Parliament and the German Federal Chancellor to “stop all direct and indirect coercive measures with the aim of vaccinating previously unvaccinated people”.

The letter cites studies from Israel, Sweden, Qatar, and Germany and argues that:

  • “The absolute, individual benefit of vaccinations against COVID-19 is marginal in the population average”,
  • “Young and healthy people and especially healthy children and adolescents must be advised against vaccination, as the risks of serious side effects and long-term effects far outweigh the possible benefits”, and
  • “The claim that vaccination protects other people from COVID-19 is not valid and untrustworthy in view of the high number of illnesses among vaccinated people and the lack of difference in infectivity between vaccinated and unvaccinated people”.

Alarmingly, the authors write that at least 0.015% (1 in 6,666) of all vaccinations in Germany resulted in serious adverse events requiring hospital admission, and the true rate is likely higher due to under-reporting of adverse events.

The letter can be read in German at the link here, or in a English version produced by Google Translate at the link here.

Une traduction en français de la lettre est disponible au lien ici.

Update, 2022-01-05: An official English translation is now available, at the link here.

Canadian Covid Care Alliance Releases Critical Report on Pfizer Trials

The Canadian Covid Care Alliance (CCCA), a group of “over 500 independent Canadian doctors, scientists and health care practitioners”, has released a set of slides presenting the organization’s critical analysis of Pfizer’s trials for its mRNA vaccine conducted in 2020 and 2021.

The CCCA slams the inadequacies, errors, and potential acts of fraud in the Pfizer trials, and finds that “the Pfizer trials did not prove safety, they proved harm”.

The concluding slide contains the following points:

• It’s clear that Pfizer – and the agencies overseeing their trials – failed to follow established, high quality safety and efficacy protocols right from the beginning.

• We have presented Level 1 evidence of harm from Pfizer’s own trial data. Any government which has approved these inoculations, much less mandated them, knew or should have known from the available data that harm would be caused to
its citizens.

• Any government that approved this medical intervention for its citizens should have ensured that the trial had used the appropriate clinical endpoints and high quality safety science.

• Any government official who possesses this evidence and continues to allow its citizens to be inoculated with a toxic agent is, at the very least, negligent.

The CCCA’s PDF document can be downloaded from OCLA’s site here, or from Dropbox at the link here. A media story by Bright Light News about the CCCA presentation can be read here.

Update: CCCA has posted a video version of their presentation on Rumble, which can be viewed below:

“Managers’ Toolkit” for Mandatory Vaccination of Federal Public Servants

In a document dated Oct. 8, 2021, the Canadian Federal Government (Treasury Board Secretariat) set out the details of its draconian mandatory vaccination regime for federal public servants.

The document can be read at the following link:

“Managers’ Toolkit for the Implementation of the Policy on COVID-19 Vaccination for the Core Public Administration including the Royal Canadian Mounted Police”

The 52-page document appears to be a near-complete draft of a comprehensive guide for managers to use in applying the injection mandate, complete with flow-diagrams about what to do with “non-compliant” employees and instructions for evaluating requests for medical, religious, and human rights accommodations.

Two striking images from the document are shown below to illustrate the systematic nature of Canada’s implementation of a policy that unambiguously violates the individual right to free and informed consent to medical treatment.

Update: “Version 3” of the document, dated Nov. 12, 2021, can be read here (in French).
