OCLA on the Freedom Feature

OCLA Executive Director Joseph Hickey was interviewed on the First Freedoms Foundation (FFF)’s “Freedom Feature” program by Dr. Barry W. Bussey.

The interview can be viewed on FFF’s website at the link HERE, or embedded below:

From FFF’s description of the interview:

What happens if we really “follow the science”? Does the research support or contradict the pandemic measures that our governments have put in place?

Dr. Joseph Hickey of the Ontario Civil Liberties Association explains that the government knew – or should have known – that it was unscientific to implement lockdowns, universal masking, and vaccine mandates, yet went ahead and did it anyway!

In fact, a recently released email reveals that the Quebec government imposed its curfew restrictions despite medical and ethical advice to the contrary. As Dr. Hickey explains, this is true of all the draconian measures taken by the federal and provincial governments during the pandemic.

As we emerge from the pandemic, we need to hold our politicians to account by demanding transparency. The biggest contribution to truth comes from individuals who take responsibility for their lives and personal decisions!

Dr. Hickey’s conversation with Dr. Bussey is a reminder of the importance of freedom of expression to allow for scientific research and discovery. As Dr. Hickey says, “in order for individuals to have influence, they need to be able to freely express their views … including views that are extremely critical of power figures, authority figures, [or] ideologies. So we have to allow a huge diversity of views.”

  • Il n’y a pas eu d’urgence sanitaire à l’origine de nombreux décès au Canada en 2020-2021 et pouvant justifier la vaccination de la population entière;
  • Il n’existe aucune preuve fiable que les vaccins contre la COVID-19 offrent des bienfaits pour la santé;
  • Les produits vaccinaux injectés par voie intramusculaire sont physiologiquement incapables de prévenir l’infection et la transmission de maladies respiratoires;
  • Des autopsies, des observations et des statistiques prouvent que les vaccins contre la COVID-19 comportent de graves dangers;
  • Plus de 1 000 articles évalués par des pairs prouvent les effets nocifs des vaccins contre la COVID-19;
  • Il existe un risque significativement élevé d’inflammation cardiaque dangereuse après l’injection d’un vaccin contre la COVID-19, particulièrement chez les jeunes hommes, et ce danger est accru chez les personnes qui s’adonnent à une activité physique intense;
  • L’immunité naturelle offre une protection robuste et suffisante contre les maladies respiratoires;

  • ses motifs religieux et les droits de la personne (âge et sexe) justifiant un accommodement (article 3);

Data scientist files internal appeal of Bank of Canada’s mandatory vaccination policy

Dr. Joseph Hickey, a data scientist at the Bank of Canada (Canada’s central bank) was placed on unpaid leave without benefits by his employer in November 2021, for declining to receive injections of a COVID-19 vaccine [See also: OCLA blog post, media article 1, media article 2].

On March 16, 2022, Dr. Hickey submitted an internal appeal of the Bank’s decision. His 766-page submission describes and cites the scientific evidence that demonstrates there are many medical reasons for declining vaccination, including that:

  • There was no emergency that caused large amounts of deaths in Canada in 2020-2021 that would justify vaccinating the entire population;
  • There is no reliable evidence that the COVID-19 vaccine products provide any health benefit;
  • Vaccine products injected via intramuscular routes are in-effect physiologically incapable of preventing infection and transmission of respiratory illnesses;
  • There is autopsy, surveillance, and statistical evidence of grave dangers of COVID-19 vaccine products;
  • There are more than 1000 peer-reviewed articles providing evidence of harm from COVID-19 vaccine products;
  • There is a significantly increased risk of dangerous heart inflammation following injection with a COVID-19 vaccine product, especially for younger males, and this danger is heightened for those who engage in strenuous physical activity;
  • Natural immunity provides robust and sufficient protection against respiratory illnesses; and
  • It is a fundamental principle of medicine that individual assessment of risk is a personal and confidential choice and the decision to receive or not receive a medical intervention must be made with free and informed consent.

A copy of the submission can be read at the link here. The sections containing the scientific and medical submissions begin on pg. 14, and can be navigated using the “bookmarks” in the PDF file (in the left column in Adobe PDF reader).

Hickey’s submission also contains sections describing:

  • his religious and human rights (age & sex) grounds for accommodation (section 3);
  • Canadian caselaw demonstrating that the vaccine mandates violate the Charter rights to freedom of conscience, freedom of religion, and life, liberty, and security of the person, and other legal principles (section 4).

Joseph Hickey is also the (volunteer) Executive Director of the Ontario Civil Liberties Association (OCLA).

Freedom Convoy Statement of Accomplishments

Organizers of the 2022 Freedom Convoy have posted a written statement on the accomplishments of the movement. The Mar. 3, 2022, statement can be read on Twitter or in PDF format at the link here.

From the statement:

Despite the government’s violent response to the protest in Ottawa, it is important for everyone who participated lawfully, peacefully, and made their voice heard, to recognize the success of their actions. Although some of the mandates and restrictions
are still in place and despite the fact that the government  refused to enter into dialogue with its own concerned citizenry, we have achieved so much. Every Canadian freedom activist should take pride in the following accomplishments:

1 – Accomplishments that are COVID-19 restriction specific:

(…)

2 – Accomplishments that are governance specific:

(…)

3 – Accomplishments that are politically specific:

(…)

[A]lthough the organization in its original format has been dispersed, arrested, de-banked,  sued and gag-ordered, the movement has only just begun. So many Freedom organizations across the country have stepped-up to carry the Freedom Convoy’s momentum forward by organizing their own initiatives and protests in Ottawa and cities across the country, and we wish each and every one of them well in their peaceful demonstrations. We ignited a flame that has lit a fire in everyone’s heart, that will never be extinguished. We are excited to see the growing momentum, and will forever support all peaceful Freedom activists in pursuing the same goals that brought us a ll to Ottawa, and shook the world awake.

Yours in Love, Peace and Solidarity,

Freedom Convoy 2022

Transcript: MPP Randy Hillier’s Statement – “End of a Chapter”

Randy Hillier, Member of Provincial Parliament for the Lanark, Ontario region since 2007, has announced he will not seek re-election in the upcoming Ontario provincial election scheduled for June 2022.

Mr. Hillier is a fierce defender of civil liberties and individual rights, and he amply demonstrated this during the COVID era as arguably the province’s leading outspoken critic of the draconian and deleterious policies of the Premier Doug Ford’s government.

Randy Hillier’s Mar. 3, 2022, video announcing his decision is embedded below, and a transcript of the video can be read here.

A written statement by Mr. Hillier dated Mar. 3, 2022, can also be read here.

From the transcript:

[I]n the last few years, especially since I came out opposing the narrative that we were living in the most dangerous times of COVID that warranted the, warranted the destruction of our representative democracy, warranted states of emergency and the suspension of civil liberties, the trampling of our charter protected rights and freedoms – I have been offside with public opinion.

Many people in the public clamored and encouraged our governments to take these excessive measures to allay their fears, to allay the anxiety. We have, in effect, been ruled by the mob for the last couple of years. And I don’t see that ending anytime soon.

And as part of that, I’ve have been condemned by a number of municipal councils in my area. Condemned because I dared have a different view, a contrary view, a view that the virus did not require us to trample our Charter of Rights and Freedoms – did not require us to close up our businesses, our schools, our health care, that these were all unnecessary.

And the facts and evidence have borne this out. Every measure that we’ve taken has had limited or no effect, beneficial effect, on the spread of the virus. Everything that we have done has caused far more harm, far more injury to far more people than what the virus ever could.

But because I had this dissenting view, and was willing to share it and be public and to be vocal about this, it wasn’t just municipal councils that condemned me. It was not just the media parrots who condemned me – but also the Ontario legislature has condemned me now on two occasions.

The last one has now taken the never-before-seen action of actually preventing me from being in the legislature and representing that point of view, or my constituents’ point of view, or my constituents who share my view – which is a substantial number. The speaker has been authorized not to recognize me, not to permit me to table motions, or order paper questions.

The house has authorized the speaker to prevent me from asking questions, or attending committees. And this is all apparently now because of some tweets that I put out.

(…)

Our political system is dysfunctional. It is not a representative democracy. At best, it may be considered a stakeholder or corporate democracy in my view, because corporate interests, stakeholder interests in the party are what drives the agenda.

And we saw this during the recent freedom convoy in Ottawa where Justin Trudeau needlessly and recklessly instituted the Emergencies Act – where he said a convoy that was protesting COVID policies, a convoy and a protest of people who were festive, who were having fun expressing their dissatisfaction. A protest, where there was bouncy castles, and hot tubs and pancake breakfasts was characterized by our Prime Minister as an insurrection and an attempt to overthrow the government.

(…)

In my view, I’ve come to the conclusion that there is not a political solution to what ails our society – the division, the polarization, the animus, the censorship, the suppression of views. These will not be fixed politically. Indeed, as I speak, our federal government is enacting even further legislation to restrict political opposition to censor views, to criminalize opposing views.

(…)

We are living in a dishonest age, where honesty has no value anymore. Where dishonesty is the currency of politics. The only solution, the only way that we can ever get back to a free and prosperous country – a country that does have a representative democracy, a country that does respect the rule of law, human rights, our civil liberties, our Charter of Rights and Freedoms – is if we reengage with people and help shape public opinion, help people understand the value of freedom.

Transcript: Bill Gates and Canadian Foreign Minister Joly at the Munich Security Conference 2022

Bill Gates and Canadian Foreign Minister Melanie Joly spoke as part of a panel discussion on Feb. 18, 2022, at the Munich Security Conference.

A transcript of the panel discussion is available here.

A video of the panel is embedded below:

The transcript contains statements such as:

“Well, the, uh, you know, sadly the virus itself particularly the, the variant called Omicron is a type of vaccine. That is, it creates both B cell and T cell immunity and it’s done a better job of getting out to the world population than we have with vaccines. (…) And you know, it’s sad we didn’t do a great job on therapeutics, you know, only here two years in, do we have a good therapeutic, vaccines. It took us two years to be an oversupply. Today there are more vaccines than there is demand for vaccines, and you know that wasn’t true. And next time we should try and make it instead of two years, we should make it more like six months. Which certainly you know some of the standardized platform approaches, including mRNA, would allow us to do that, so, you know it took us a lot longer this time than than it should have.” — Bill Gates

“[W]hat is the downside of wearing a mask? I mean it’s got to be tough, you know you have to wear pants. I mean, this is tough stuff. These societies are so cruel. Why do they make you wear pants? I’m trying to figure it out.” — Bill Gates

“Well, we are very, very concerned with, and I’m very concerned with the issue of disinformation and misinformation, to, when it comes to the pandemic, when it comes to our democracy, let’s start with the pandemic. We know that vaccine hesitancy is linked also to the fact that there are social media campaigns that are spreading false information regarding the origin of the virus, its impacts, and also the you know, the impacts of vaccines. We see that throughout the world this is having an impact in democracies and in countries which have, and Comfort could talk more about that, but have had some
issues in terms of trusting their public health authorities, but this entire misinformation, disinformation campaigns are…” — Melanie Joly

Transcript: Senator Denise Batters Speech on Emergencies Act Vote

Senator Denise Batters gave a riveting speech opposing the invocation of the Emergencies Act during Senate debate on Feb. 22, 2022.

The transcript of Senator Batters’ speech can be read here.

A video of the speech is embedded below:

From the transcript:

“What is the National Emergency this time, dance parties and loud horns? Horns that, by the way, had long since stopped honking by the time this act was invoked, due to a court injunction that the truckers complied with. Honorable Senators, just remember that when this government has long gone, and another takes its place of a strike you may not agree with.

The Trudeau Government has now set this as the precedent for invoking the Emergencies Act: bouncy castles, loud horns, raucous partying and illegal parking in a four block radius of downtown Ottawa. It’s annoying to be sure. But is this a national emergency?

The federal government made no moves to resolve the Ottawa protests for three weeks while the protesters were mere feet from the front door of West Block. If the situation were truly such a grave threat to national security that it rose to the level of employing the Emergencies Act, one would expect the federal government would have acted in some way – any way – to resolve it. But they did not. Prime Minister Trudeau simply refuses to meet with protesters, then brought in the Emergencies Act as a first – not a last resort.

When Deputy Prime Minister Freeland spoke on the issue, she said that the government used all the tools that had prior to the invocation of the act. What tools? Name calling? The Prime Minister disappearing for days on end? More name calling? What tools? The same tools they used for the railway blockades in 2020 that went on for 19 days, and for which the government still never invoked the Emergencies Act?” — Senator Denise Batters
