JOSEPH HICKEY – EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Joseph Hickey is the co-founder and Executive Director of the Ontario Civil Liberties Association (OCLA). He has represented the OCLA in public campaigns, media interviews, and public events since the OCLA’s founding in the Fall of 2012.
Joseph has a PhD in Physics (Complexity Science Group, University of Calgary) and BSc and MSc degrees from the University of Ottawa. His research has been published in peer-reviewed science and law journals.

.MATTHEW FOURNIER – TECHNICAL DIRECTOR
Matthew has been the OCLA’s Technical Director and website administrator since the Fall of 2012. He has a BSc in Physics and Mathematics from the University of Ottawa, and works in the tech sector as a software and data engineer.

.CAROLINE WANG – TREASURER
Caroline is the OCLA’s Treasurer. She has a BSc in Nutrition from the Université de Montréal and an MSc in Health Sciences (Community Health) from the Université de Sherbrooke, in which she published research on the social and psychosocial determinants of health. Caroline works as a dietician in Gatineau.

DENIS RANCOURT – RESEARCHER
Denis Rancourt joined OCLA as a volunteer Researcher in 2014.
Denis has a PhD in Physics (1984, University of Toronto), is a former tenured Full Professor (University of Ottawa), and has published over one hundred articles in leading science journals.
Denis’ reports and articles about fundamental rights are featured on the OCLA web site, at his ResearchGate author’s page, and at the online media source Dissident Voice.

.HAZEL LIEVONEN – RESEARCHER
Hazel is a mom and activist who is passionate about freedom of expression on all topics, for all opinions, and for everyone. She earned an Honours BA in Psychology from the University of Ottawa, and has personal experience of State repression in the COVID-era, having been dismissed from her position as a research assistant at York University after choosing not to disclose her personal medical information.
